Warehouse Associate (Sacramento CA)

Warehouse Associates are responsible for loading, unloading, sorting,, staging and transporting products into and out of our distribution center. Individuals in this position must work cooperatively with other Associates and productively with little supervision. Following company safety policies and procedures is of great importance to this position.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Follows company safety policies and procedures and encourages other Associates to do the same.
  • Safely operates forklift or other machinery in order to complete tasks such as loading, unloading, sorting, staging and transporting products.
  • Works cooperatively and productively with Department Heads and other Associates in order to complete tasks.
  • Arranges cartons on pallets keeping in mind size, weight, height, etc.
  • Loads trucks keeping in mind cubic weight, size and characteristics (i.e., easily crushable, etc.) in mind.
  • Works productively (i.e., receiving products, picking products, etc.) with little supervision.
  • Provides and inspires outstanding service to customers by maintaining attention to detail and completing assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Maintains condition of Distribution Center (i.e., free of trash, product in correct location, etc).
  • Additional duties as assigned by Distribution Center Management.

Nature and Scope

  • Typically reports to Department Supervisor.
  • No direct reports.
  • Typically assignments are very specific.
  • Typically refers to basic instructions when solving problems.
  • Typically, guidance is always available and prior permission is required before changing work methods.

Environmental Job Requirements

  • Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the Distribution Center, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing and uneven walking surface.
  • The warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy.
  • Doors near working areas are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes. Interior floors near entrances and exits may become slippery during wet weather conditions.
  • A Warehouse Associate may have to handle merchandise and working tools with sharp edges.
  • Passing forklifts may emit gas fumes.
  • Upon certification to operate a forklift or other type of lift equipment, a Warehouse Associate may have to operate a piece of equipment using electric voltage.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One year experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Initiative: Ability to think and take constructive action at work without being urged; skill and ability in taking the lead in forwarding new ideas or work methods.
