SEI Online Solar Trainings
As part of AEE Solar's training partnership with Solar Energy International, our Dealers receive a $50 discount on the SEI online solar trainings below. Be sure to use these links to register so you receive your AEE Solar Dealer discount.
SEI's highly regarded online training covers all of the material presented in the in-person workshop and listed in the description, without the hands-on experience. The course is co-taught by two instructors, ensuring prompt attention and encouraging interaction between students and the instructors. SEI utilizes the Blackboard Academic Suite, the industry leading online education platform, ensuring a dynamic and fulfilling experience, with anywhere/anytime course access and around the clock tech support. Time requirements: It will generally take 10 to 20 hours per week to complete the course. However, this is an estimated average and will vary based on the user's computer and internet connection, and his or her previous experience and understanding of the subject matter.
NOTE: If you are not yet an AEE Solar dealer but would like to get the online training AEE dealer discount, you can fill out our dealer application. If you possess the necessary dealer qualifications (other than the required training), we will process your application, set your status as pending, and you will receive a temporary registration code to use in the dealer number box in the registration page. If you are not a prospective AEE Solar dealer, visit the SEI site to register with SEI directly.

Solar Electric Fundamentals and Grid-Tie Design
(PVOL101) -Establish fundamental concepts required for safe, code-compliant design and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems, with a focus on residential-sized grid-tie solar electric systems. PVOL101 includes PV 101 PREP, a mandatory web-based on-demand component. More info on the SEI web site.
-
Advanced PV
(PVOL200) -Apply the National Electric Code (NEC) to solar-electric systems and specify design criteria for residential grid-tie and battery-based systems. This course expands upon PV100 and PV102. It focuses on the National Electric Code (NEC), including grid interface calculations, grounding considerations and wire sizing. Participants evaluate system performance under various operating conditions. Additional information on batteries, charge controllers, and hybrid systems is included. More info on the SEI web site.

Grid-Tie Solar Electric Systems and Code Criteria
(PVOL202) -Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) to residential and commercial grid-tie solar electric systems to ensure safe, code-compliant design and installation. This workshop will build upon the core concepts from PV 101 and continue to emphasize grid-tie systems. The course will focus significantly on the National Electrical Code (NEC), including grid interface calculations, grounding considerations, and advanced component specification. Students will learn to evaluate system performance under various operating conditions. Commercial system design elements, such as inter-row shading, inverter selection, and data monitoring solutions will also be covered. More info on the SEI web site.

Battery-based Solar Electric Systems and Code Criteria
(PVOL203) -Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) to battery-based systems to ensure safe, code-compliant design and installation. This course will build upon the core concepts from PV 101, with a specific emphasis on battery-based system design. Students will work through step-by-step design process for battery-based applications, including stand-alone (off-grid), grid-tie with battery back-up, and hybrid systems. Topics such as load analysis, component selection, battery safety, voltage drop, and commissioning procedures will be presented. In addition to sizing exercises and calculations, students will explore additional design considerations unique to battery-based systems. More info on the SEI web site.
